MYLEENE KLASS is not yet 40 but has done it all – classical pianist, pop star, reality TV star, fashion entrepreneur, model and mum.
But she is now launching yet another career — as a workout guru.
Myleene Klass is back for a second day to show Sun readers simple but effective exercise routines
She has brought out a fitness guide called MyBody by Myleene, designed for ANYONE to do.
MyBody by Myleene is a 12-week programme costing £49.95 that comes with an exercise DVD, wallplanner and sandbell weight. It focuses on toning, fat-burning and core strength.
The mum of two, who turns 40 in April, says: “I’ve kept up my exercise my whole life.
“But I’m not talking excessive behaviour — these days you are made to feel like you either have to be a ‘gym bunny’ or on the sofa with your remote control, but you can have a balance.”
Myleene has also found a new balance and peace in her personal life.
The former I’m A Celebrity star says: “Turning 40, I don’t think I could have planned for where I wanted to be at this time in my life.
“I would never have put this together. I’d take the rough with the smooth because if I hadn’t had the rough I’d never be able to appreciate how amazing love is, how amazing I feel now.
Myleene says she’s never felt more in shape than she does now
“I feel really proud where I am in my life, I’m incredibly in love. I do believe if I hadn’t been through those experiences, I’d like to think I’d still be grateful. But if I’m being really honest, would I have been?
“Probably not. Now I know who I am and I know I am so happy. I’m going to own every year, I don’t want to go backwards, I don’t want to be 21.
“I’m more confident and content now than I ever have been. I’m going to own 40.”
Following the exercises from her workout programme that Myleene shared in yesterday’s Fabulous, below she reveals more of her top moves and fitness tips.
Reverse/side lunge with sandbell
THESE lunges are best done using the 3.5kg sandbell weight provided as part of the My Body by Myleene fitness programme. It will help strengthen and tone leg muscles in particular.
Lunges are best done using the 3.5kg sandbell weight as it helps to strengthen and tone leg muscles
REVERSE LUNGE: Start with feet hip-distance apart, holding the sandbell close to the body, elbows bent.
Keeping your chest up, step back with one leg and bring your heel off the floor to lower your knee toward the ground.
As you do this, straighten your arms to bring the sandbell weight directly out in front of you. Push through the front foot, to return to start position.
Then repeat exercise on other leg.
The sandbell should be held close to the body when carrying out a side lunge
SIDE LUNGE: Start with feet hip-distance apart, holding the sandbell close to the body, elbows bent.
Take a step to the side, keeping toes pointed forward and bend at the knee, pushing hips back, keeping chest up and sandbell held close to your body.
Hold at the bottom for one second then push back off the foot in the side lunge and return to the start.
Repeat on the same leg for the entire set before changing.
Plank to side plank
Start your plank with your elbows below your shoulder and in a straight line
START in a plank position, elbows below shoulders, palms on floor, forming a straight line along the body, abs engaged.
Slowly twist the body to the side and bring the right arm up to the sky, balancing on the left arm while keeping hips raised off the floor.
Hold for a second at the top then return to the starting plank position.
Hold this pose for a second before returning to the starting plank position
Myleene’s top tips
- Your body shape is beautiful and unique to you. We are not trying to alter it, just trim down.
- The goal is to create a calorie deficit – by keeping active.
- Resistance exercise burns more calories – for my programme, use a 3.5kg sandbell.
- Resistance training, instead of cardio, burns calories then demands more energy to repair the body post-workout.
- Use every chance to tone up – squats while on the phone, press-ups against the photo-copier at work and sit-ups during TV ad breaks.
- Exercise benefits are cumulative, so a bit here and a bit there equals an hour’s gym.
- Give yourself a pat on the back as you get fitter.
- Interval training is the quickest, most time-effective way to improve fitness. It is the core principle in my MyBody by Myleene programme.
