Twin River seeks more marketing help from state [Video]
LINCOLN, R.I. (AP) - The owner of Rhode Island's two casinos is trying to fend off out-of-state competition by seeking more state marketing dollars and permission to double the credit they can extend to high rollers. Twin River runs casinos in Lincoln and Tiverton. The Providence Journal reports that a bill before lawmakers would boost the maximum amount Twin River could recoup for promoting its Tiverton facility by around $860,000 per year, to $1.4 million. The company would have to spend $2.9 million of its own on Tiverton marketing to get that full reimbursement. Twin River also wants to allow high rollers to play on up to $100,000 of credit, double the current $50,000 limit. A state Revenue Department spokesman says the agency is reviewing the bill to determine whether it will benefit the state financially. ___ Information from: The Providence Journal, http://www.providencejournal.com ...
