The Opel Manta was sold in the United States for the 1971 through 1975 model years, and the sporty German coupe could be seen on American roads almost as often as its European Ford rival, the Capri. Here’s the first Manta I have seen in an American wrecking yard in at least a decade (Opel GTs, sure, but Mantas have become much more rare).

This one has hand controls and an automatic transmission, perhaps the only Manta so equipped on the North American continent. It has the look of a car that sat for decades before coming to its final stop before the crusher.
