Desai, and Alchemy’s co-founder, Chong Shen, started working together in 2013 during their fourth year at the University of Waterloo. For their final project, they developed a solution that was sprayed onto windshields to keep frost and ice from forming overnight.

After graduating in 2013, they were among the first batch of nanotechnology students at UW …

So they changed the technology again, focusing on protecting windshields from chips and cracks caused by rocks and debris, rather than on preventing frost and ice from forming on the glass when a vehicle was parked outside.
