Hackers (artist's impression) have been handed an easy win, thanks to a little known marketing firm that collected data on millions of people and leaked it online. It's not know exactly how many people were caught up in the leak, but 340 million files were uploaded  publicly

Security researcher Vinny Troia, who discovered that Exactis, a data broker based in Palm Coast, Florida (office pictured), made the information available via a server accessible to anyone

Mr Troia unearthed the database using a search tool called Shodan to probe a popular database called ElasticSearch (pictured). He believes others must have made the same discovery
