Hindus have vented their fury towards Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) urging them to withdraw their “You Never Lamb Alone” ad.
They have also requested Australia Advertising Standards Bureau to ban the ad in a protest spearheaded by Rajan Zed, president of Universal Society of Hinduism. In a statement, he said that an apology was in order from MLA board chair Dr Michele Allan and managing director Richard Norton.
Reajen further said: “Lord Ganesha is highly revered in Hinduism and he was meant to be worshiped in temples or home shrines and not to be used in selling lamb meat for mercantile greed. Moreover, linking Lord Ganesha with meat is very disrespectful and highly inappropriate.”
In Hindu religion, Lord Ganesha is the god of wisdom and learning as well as the remover of obstacles.
