MELBOURNE star Jordan Lewis believes the mass infiltration of social media on young people has worsened society’s mental health epidemic.
On Friday GWS ruckman Tom Downie retired at the age of 24 to deal with mental health issues, while on Tuesday evening Collingwood confirmed that forward Alex Fasolo would not play against Fremantle in Round 11 as he deals with depression.
“Young players are on social media the whole day,” Lewis said on AFL 360.
“Players these days read everything. They read the good comments, the bad comments and everything in between.
“That has no doubt had an effect on players and their mental health.”
